Burgess Mee is pleased to have been ranked once again as a leading law firm in the 2025 edition of The Legal 500 UK, which is published today.

Burgess Mee is recommended in both the ‘Family’ and ‘Family: mediation’ categories in Band 3. Partners Antonia Mee and Peter Burgess are ranked as leading partners and Rachel Freeman, David Lillywhite and Natalie Sutherland are ranked as next generation partners.

The Legal 500 says:

“Praised for its ‘unwavering commitment to excellence‘, boutique firm Burgess Mee fields a team of experts across finance issues, child arrangements, modern families and wealth protection work.

“Peter Burgess, joint founder of the firm, combines a mediation practice, children work, and financial disputes expertise, while fellow co-founder Antonia Mee is praised for her ‘unparalleled’ knowledge in child relocation cases. ‘Exceptional partner’ David Lillywhite, also a mediator, is a go-to for nuptial agreements. Natalie Sutherland heads up the firm’s modern family department, with an established practice in surrogacy and fertility law. Rachel Freeman joined the team in January 2024 from Kingsley Napley LLP.

“Burgess Mee fields an experienced team of five mediators, including team head Peter Burgess, who mediates in cases involving both finances and children and he also offers hybrid mediation. Burgess and David Lillywhite are described as ‘exceptionally bright lawyers who are hardworking and meticulous‘. Lillywhite has particular expertise in cases involving controlling behaviour, specifically financial control.”

The Legal 500 highlights the practice area teams who are providing the most cutting-edge and innovative advice to clients. The rankings are based on feedback from clients, submissions from law firms, interviews with leading private practice lawyers, and market analysis conducted by the directory’s team of researchers.
